Training in SCA™ for Healthcare Professionals

Westman Aphasia Inc. offer a full day workshop, Let’s Talk Aphasia, twice a year (spring and fall).

  • The morning session includes a review of language and the brain, the causes of aphasia, and the psychosocial effects of aphasia on the individual with aphasia, their caregivers and families.
  • The afternoon session is the formal training in Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia (SCA™) which includes practice with WAIs program participants. This session is led by a SLP who has been fully trained in SCA™ by Toronto’s Aphasia Institute.
  • Healthcare professionals can opt to attend only the SCA™ afternoon session.
